How to Measure an Automotive Screen

1. Identify the configuration

Record vehicle brand, model, model year, sales market and trim. Photograph the complete dashboard and identify which display needs protection.

2. Measure the intended coverage

Record width and height of the proposed protected area in millimeters. Include bezel boundaries, corner shape and cutouts. A diagonal measurement does not capture the complete outline.

3. Show the edges clearly

Take a front-on photograph with a scale reference. Avoid perspective distortion. If a drawing is available, provide it with dimensions and the intended edge clearance.

4. Record shape, cutouts and clearances

Measure overall width and height separately from the visible display area. Include corner radii, camera or sensor openings and the distance from each opening to a defined edge. Provide a drawing with units and a front-on photograph; a perspective photo alone is not a production template.

5. Separate every screen in a multi-screen kit

Give the center, instrument and rear screens separate references. Record quantity and finish for each position, and identify whether a surface is flat or curved. Similar-looking displays and the same diagonal size can require different protector outlines.

6. Prepare the RFQ handoff

Send vehicle model, year, destination market, steering side, screen position, measured drawing, photos and required order quantity. Include packaging, labels and installation-kit requirements. Mark dimensions you cannot verify as pending rather than guessing.

7. Validate with a sample

Measurements support a development review; they do not replace sample fitting. Confirm edge clearance, touch response and visibility on the target display before approval.
